Aviation Collective HK celebrates Cathay's 80 Years Together

Aviation Collective HK congratulates Cathay on its 80th anniversary, marking eight decades of connecting Hong Kong with the world and contributing to the city's development as an international aviation hub.

Founded in 1946 with a single aircraft and two pilots, Cathay has grown alongside Hong Kong from a regional airline into a global carrier, as the city itself developed into one of the world's leading aviation hubs.

From the early days of Kai Tak to today's global aviation network, Cathay has connected generations of travellers in Hong Kong and around the world, becoming a familiar part of journeys to, from, and via the city. Its eight-decade journey has also witnessed and contributed to the transformation of Hong Kong's aviation and travel landscape.

To celebrate the milestone, Aviation Collective HK has curated stories exploring different aspects of Cathay's relationship with Hong Kong. One reflects the resilience behind eight decades of change, while the other explores the sense of homecoming that Hong Kong's home carrier has come to evoke for generations of travellers.
